Dr. Elise Brown is an Associate Professor in Wellness and Health Promotion at Oakland University. Her research focuses on the use of exercise to prevent diabetes and the health complications that often accompany this condition.
She completed her B.S. in Health Promotion (psychology minor) from Louisiana Tech University, M.S. in Sports Administration (psychology emphasis) from Midwestern State University, and Ph.D. in Health Promotion from University of the West of Scotland.
Dr. Brown competed in and coached Olympic-style weightlifting and coached para powerlifting at USA Weightlifting High Performance and Development Center at Louisiana State University Shreveport, designed and implemented strength and conditioning programs for women’s volleyball and basketball at Centenary College, and has 5+ years experience personal training a range of clients.
She has a passion for lifting weights, hiking, gardening, traveling, and live music.
